DID YOU KNOW?
WELLNESS COMES NATURALLY
It is important to switch up the fiber in your body by seasons...to keep the stomach and intestines working correctly! In the Fall and Winter we need soluble fiber like oat bran, barley, nuts, seeds, beans, lentils, grains, peas and some fruits and veggies like okra and brussels sprouts. Why? When it mixes with water it binds to your stomach/gut and lubricates your intestines so toxins can move along. Soluble fiber binds with fatty acids and bile in the gut, which are generally attached to bad cholesterol and toxins and wraps it up and flushes it out your system. The benefit...it becomes gel-like in the gut and slows the absorptions of fats and sugars into the blood stream.
In the warm months...Spring and Summer.... we need more insoluble fiber like fruits and vegetables. Insoluble fiber is found mostly in vegetable cellulose, but also makes an appearance in wheat bran, fruits, whole grains, nuts and seeds, and the skins of root and ground vegetables. Insoluble fiber does not mix with water and generally moves through the gut intact, acting as bulk and scrubbing the intestinal wall. Think scrub a dub...dub roughage! Insoluble fiber usually speeds up the passage of food through the stomach and intestines, adding bulk...wrapping it up and flushing out of the system. The benefit....it removes toxic waste in the colon in less time, scrubs the villi of the intestines and contributes to an optimal pH in the intestines to prevent undesirable microbes from producing toxic substances..maintaining the proper pH of the gut, which regulates the balance of good bacteria in the gut.
What I did not know is that nature works with our body due to the temperature with both types of fiber! Soluble fiber warms the body so it will not have dryness and keeps it lubricated.....Insoluble fiber creates its own water and moves through the body quickly taking toxins with it!!
Makes sense....and now I know!!
