DID YOU KNOW? 2 HORMONES CONTROL HUNGER AND CRAVINGS

I want to write about things that I did not know....but learned! So, this year I am going to make it my business to share awareness monthly about Massage and Wellness

YOUR HORMONES CAN MAKE IT HARD TO LOSE WEIGHT!!
 
As a plus size DIVA, I have learned that I can look at food sometimes and start to gain weight!  When I decided to learn more about that, I discovered 2 hormones that play a serious role in hunger and cravings when they are out of balance!!
 
So, I learned about the ones I want to blame, two appetite hormones: Ghrelin, the hormone which says, "Excuse me....I am getting hungry...I need to eat some food!!"… "Hello!....I need food....anything will do!"    Then after eating some food, IF...you are not out of balance...the hormone Leptin, steps in about 15 minutes after eating and knocks to say, "Enough. You're full!!"  Note that you have to be "in balance" for this to occur the right way!
 
Here is what I did not know!! Ghrelin is like having poison ivy...it keeps itching,  it mentions food to your brain about every 30 minutes when it is in balance....can be a total menace to society if it is out of balance....which is why you can inhale a box of cookies then wonder who ate them!!!  Especially when you are cutting calories to try and lose weight, Ghrelin can be an evil twin!!  Even though Leptin wants to kick in, it is like a good buddy and just wants to keep you chugging along nice and easy, making Ghrelin the chatterbox and overpowering.   When you are trying to reduce calories, Ghrelin tends to be the bully over Leptin because Ghrelin becomes a stronger urge and Leptin gets left in the dust and is weakened when trying to lose weight by cutting calories.  Here's what I have learned.....diet smart....not hard and rigid!!  Eat the right foods, eat early instead of late and your hormones come into balance and feel satisfied!  Eat the wrong foods and your cravings go crazy...and you are constantly hungry....something just does not shut off!! 
 
So....the RIGHT FOODS are veggies, fruits, whole grains, poultry, fish, eggs, beans, olives, greek yogurt and some good dark chocolate.  The BAD FOODS are anything that is processed and has many different kinds of sugar in it.  How to avoid the bad foods...stay on the outside perimeter of the grocery store where things tend to be more natural and organic!!
